About

Marvin L. Grundhoefer was a graduate of St. Thomas College and the St. Paul College of Law (now Hamline Mitchell).  In 1952, he moved to Northfield and started the practice with classmate Robert Kucera.  For over 60 years, he concentrated on estate planning, real estate matters and handling of small business-type transactions. He was also a part-time public defender.

From the beginning, the firm was a general practice office.  Marv believed that honest representation at a modest cost is what people wanted and the community needed.

Marv was very involved in the community from the beginning. His extensive civic roles included: Northfield Area Chamber of Commerce President, Northfield Jaycees President, Northfield Lions President, Northfield United Fund Chairman, Knights of Columbus Grand Knight, Northfield Golf Club President, Secretary/Treasurer of Rice County Bar Association, Special Municipal Judge for Northfield, Assistant Rice County Attorney, Mayor of Northfield 1969-1973 and 1991-1995, Community Resource Bank Board of Directors, Northfield Retirement Community Board of Directors, Review Board of the Cambridge State Hospital and its successors. He was a retired Naval Air Reserve Lieutenant Commander (air intelligence) with 23 years of service.  Marv passed away on October 15, 2020 at the age of 93.  We honor his memory.
