Marvin Grundhoefer
The firm’s objective is to bring affordable legal services to the citizens of Northfield-area community. From the very beginning, the firm has been involved in the general practice of law, handling a variety of legal matters, including: family law, municipal law, estate planning (wills, trusts, probate), guardianships and conservatorships, real estate matters, criminal defense, general litigation, small business transactions, including setting up corporations, limited liability companies, and partnerships. The members of the firm have been in active as public defenders and court appointed counsel, handling child protection, termination of parental rights matters, criminal matters of all kinds, and other matters representing indigent clients.
Marv Grundhoefer came to Northfield in the fall of 1952 after being admitted to the Bar. Bob Kucera and Marv Grundhoefer opened a law office on November 1, 1952, in the Medical Arts Building in Northfield. In 1962, the partnership dissolved, and Marv moved to 319 Division Street in Northfield as a sole practitioner. Thomas Neuville (now Judge Thomas M. Neuville, Rice County District Court) joined the firm in 1976. Tom and Marv were partners from 1976 through September 31, 2007. The office moved to 515 South Water Street in 1983, at which a number of different lawyers were associated with the firm, including Barbara Ditmanson (1985 to 1988), David L. Ludescher, who joined the firm in 1989, James Prichard (1991), and Kevin Voss (2005 to 2006). Tom Neuville, David Ludescher, and Marv Grundhoefer formed the partnership of Grundhoefer, Neuville & Ludescher, P.A. in 1992. The partnership continued until Tom Neuville was appointed a Minnesota District Judge for the Third Judicial District in 2007. Victoria Dennis joined the firm just prior to Tom Neuville’s departure to the bench. David Ludescher and Marv Grundhoefer continue practicing at 515 South Water Street up until the present time as Grundhoefer & Ludescher, P.A. In 2008, after admission to the Bar, Matthew Rich joined the firm as an associate.
Through the years, the firm has associated with the office education program of the Northfield School District, employing 12th grade students part-time during the school year, and gradually bringing them into the office on a full-time basis after graduation. During that time, there have been at least ten or more such students; and two are still with the firm – Linda Younger Hubbard part-time, and Melainey J. Schrot, full-time Legal Assistant, from September 1971, to the present.
